Cadillac Will Build Converj, Call It ELR

General Motors has just confirmed that the Cadillac Converj Concept will enter production as a luxury coupe with extended-range electric vehicle technology. Known as the Cadillac ELR, details on the production car’s performance, pricing and timing will be announced at a later date since it development just started. “The Cadillac ELR will feature an electric propulsion system made up of a T-shaped lithium ion battery, an electric drive unit, and a four-cylinder engine-generator,” GM said in a statement. “It uses electricity as its primary source to drive the car without using gasoline or producing tailpipe emissions. When the battery’s energy is low, the ELR seamlessly switches to extended-range mode to enable driving for hundreds of additional miles.”  “The concept generated instant enthusiasm,” said Don Butler, vice president-Cadillac Marketing. “Like other milestone Cadillac models of the past, the ELR will offer something not otherwise present – the combination of electric propulsion with striking design and the fun of luxury coupe driving.” The Cadillac ELR name stands for the car’s electric propulsion technology and keeps with the brand’s 3-letter international model naming convention. “There’s no mistaking it for anything but a Cadillac, an aggressive, forward-leaning profile and proportion showcases a uniquely shaped, modern vision of a personal luxury 2+2,” Welburn said.

كاديلاك تعلن عن إنتاج سيارة كهربائية فاخرة 2013

أعلنت شركة جينرال موتورز عن نيتها إنتاج أول سيارة كاديلاك فاخرة ستطلق عليها اسم كاديلاك ELR، السيارة الجديدة هى ثانى سيارات كاديلاك الكهربائية، حيث تم إطلاق أول سيارة كهربائية للشركة عام 2009 فى معرض ديترويت للسيارات، ولكنها ستصبح الأولى فى سوق السيارات الفاخرة. وستستخدم ELR من كاديلاك ميزة الدفع الكهربائى وإمكانية تحويلها إلى البنزين، حيث ستعمل من خلال بطارية ليثيم أيون ومحرك و4 سلندر. ولم تقدم الشركة تفاصيل حول السعر المتوقع وموعد محدد لتواجد السيارة فى الأسواق ومواصفات السيارة. وذكر تقرير لموقع ماشابل أنه من المتوقع أن تدخل السيارة فى التصنيع عام 2013 لتكون متاحة فى الأسواق عام 2014. وقال دون بوتلر، نائب رئيس التسويق فى كاديلاك، السيارة ستكون مزيج من الدفع الكهربائى والتصميم الجذاب مع متعة قيادة السيارات الكوبية الفاخرة. ومن المنتظر أن تواجه كاديلاك منافسة قوية مع شركات بى إم دبليو التى أعلنت عن نيتها إطلاق سيارة كهربائية فاخرة فى وقت سابق من هذا العام و فولكس واجن التى أعلنت أن سيارتها الكهربائية الفاخرة ستكون موجودة فى الأسواق عام 2013.
